Granada Chair: A Geometric Masterpiece

Relaxed, versatile, and elegant, the Granada chair is a contemporary furniture piece that adds charm and personality to any space.

While admiring the solid elements of nature, designer Katty Kaitazoff created the Stones Collection, which features the stunning Granada Chair. This chair is part of a contemporary line of products that reflect the harmony of faceted surfaces found in precious stones. With an extensive study of production techniques, including laser cutting, folding, soldering, sanding, painting, and polishing, the Granada Chair is transformed into a true jewel of any environment.

The Granada chair stands out with its geometric and well-demarcated lines, creating a structure made of carbon steel that brings sophistication and elegance to any space. What sets this design apart is the attention to detail and the quality of finishes, challenging the traditional view of current furniture. Its versatility allows it to be used in various settings, from cozy dining rooms to professional office spaces.

Designed like an "origami," the Granada chair underwent a meticulous process of cutting, folding, and gluing paper to achieve the perfect ergonomic and aesthetic qualities. A 3D model was also created on the computer, followed by a 1:1 origami test using hard paper. After days of designing, a sample was produced using carbon steel in the actual size.

In the Stones Collection, the Granada chair and armchairs offer two options: the NAKED option, where the entire metallic structure is visible, showcasing the handcrafted work of folds and creases, and the FULL option, which features complete upholstery for a cozier finish.

Aside from its modern and beautiful appearance, the Granada chair boasts high durability due to its carbon steel construction. It also offers a range of unique color options, including copper, champagne, and gold, which are currently in high demand in the design world. With its distinctive shape and color, this chair effortlessly complements any decor and serves as a statement piece in any room.

The Granada chair project began in February 2015 in São Paulo and was completed in August 2018. It was showcased at the High Design Mobile and Design Exposition in São Paulo in August 2018, where it received accolades for its innovative design. The creation of this chair was not without its challenges, particularly in determining the ideal material to achieve the desired weight, ergonomics, cost, and comfort. After numerous tests, carbon steel emerged as the chosen material, but achieving the desired quality was a painstaking process that took several months of dedicated work.

Katty Kaitazoff holds the copyrights for the Granada chair, which has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019. This award celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
